I was over at the park when a daddy and his son drove up. The boy jumped out of the golf cart and started digging, literally making the dirt fly. He was telling Daddy how big a hole he is going to dig.
My youngest came into the house one day and asked, "Mom can we (neighbor boys) dig a hole?" ... I thought for a second and replied, "Sure! Just make sure it's in the side yard (play yard)." My husband came home a few hours later and found 2 boys knee deep in the hole, shoveling away. At first he was upset, but then he thought about it. We had both come to the same thought: We know where our son is; the neighbors know where their sons are; it's not going to hurt anything; it gives them something to do. :-) This went on for several days as they had to 'perfect' it. They had a purpose for it; to hide in during the nightly game of hide'n seek! ... and we thought they just wanted to get dirty!
Love your picture, Katie!
