Day # 63 - Becky Fisher's Trash

This blog was going to be only one picture a day, but today I am breaking my own rules because I want to post more than one picture. This is Mr Grieve from Fivepointville/Hinkletown PA. His wife is a Good and so they had a Good/Grieve wedding. He is a Chiropractor from Hinkletown. Anyway they parked their camper next door to Becky Fisher's former home. So they were at her estate sale yesterday although I didn't meet him until this afternoon when I decided to bike to Becky's former home and see if the free stuff has all been taken or whatever. Mr Grieve came from next door and started going through the boxes and putting things together for the garbage pickup tomorrow morning. He ended up emptying all the trash bags just to see what is in them. Of course I am or was a pack-rat so I stayed.

I took this stone. Does anyone know what kind of a polished stone this is?

Not only did I take the stone, I also took the horse shoe nail and these two little trinkets. It seems every old woman has a few trinkets they saved when they were little girls. I also took an old Coconut Oil bar of soap. I brought it home and tried it out. The soap has a horrible smell but I love the feel of that rich sudsy soap on my skin.

  1. I believe the stone is a tiger-eye gem-stone. I used to collect gemstones when I lived in South Africa

  2. Is this a bad luck or good luck stone or none of the two? I really don't want it to be any of the two.

  3. It's just a stone that polishes to a pretty finish. I don't think most people would associate it with luck, good or bad. Horseshoe nails always remind me of the old historic poem - "For want of a horseshoe nail, a kingdom was lost." Maybe someone else knows the whole of it.

  4. My father is a "rock-hound" or rock collector. When I was growing up he would bring back all kinds of stones and rocks from hiking in the woods of New Hampshire. He had a rock polisher (as do I) and we would polish up some of the stones. Sometimes he would go to rock shops and pick up some pretty polished stones that weren't native to our area.

This one is a tiger eye quartz. All things in nature were made by God. I don't attribute anything mystical to rocks or stones as a Christian, but obviously people have throughout time. Roman soldiers used to wear these from protection thinking that it was like having an extra eye. I never knew that growing up and it wouldn't have made a difference to me. It was a lovely thing that God had made and that is all. Truly that *is* all that it is. God bless you.

  5. I am glad I have this stone. I think Gary picked it out of the trash and handed it to me. It was dirty but I washed and polished it.

  7. I like the Good/Grieve wedding comment. Seems to me it would make for an interesting post.
