Year 3, Day # 25 - Nature Cleans Up Their Mess

Finally the Roseate Spoonbill didn't up and leave when I arrived on my bike. He was probably too busy feeding on whatever is in this shallow water.

After watching these birds the last few days, I am convinced that nature can clean up after  their own messes. Three weeks ago we had 7-8 inches of rain, and the rain water had to go someplace so it filled every dip and low place it could find. Anyway a good sized body of water turned into a pond in the park. I kept watch of this pond. At first the long legged shore birds kept to the edge while the duck did their swimming.

As the water receded more and more of the shore birds came around. Yesterday and this morning these birds are cleaning up the bottom of the pond. They were so busy gobbing up insects and whatever lives in this water that they never noticed me. Maybe they are also used to seeing me around.

Roseate walking the shore.

I am a "People Person" but I have always been a back-woodsy person enjoying nature to the fullest.
